Requirements: Create and manage a new marketplace selling responsive website templates. The purpose was for me to try and understand the full life cycle of an online business. This included design, development, analysis, conversion tracking, branding, SEO, marketing, ROI and customer service.

Challenges and Background: No budget or staff! I decided to develop the concept from the ground up in my spare time and create a business I could eventually sell, make a sustainable monthly profit or take invaluable learnings from. Luckily for me I managed to do all three. Within my first year of business, I had reached 30k unique visitors a month, over 150 template developers signed up, over 1000 themes were submitted and I had sales from across the globe. The sustainable monthly profit was not enough for me to live a lavish lifestyle but managed to keep the business running. After 18 months of running the business I decided to sell and the marketplace was acquired in September 2015.
